Why is Grain Cooling needed?
Grains are living organism, which mean they are breathing like we do. In fact grains contain carbohydrates and they can naturally react with oxygen that result in carbon dioxide, water and heat. That process is called grain respiration. The natural grain respiration process is actually a loss for the owner. It reduces its own weight, generate heat as well as water. If it is left that way, the quality degradation speed can go up exponentially or can even cause fires. In order to prevent the quality of stored grain from deteriorating, we need to decrease the moisture content and keep the grain temperature low by blowing cool dry air. Weather station which can detect the ambient humidity may help us to notify or automatically turn on the grain chiller. On the other hand, grain cooling is also a prevention of weevils proliferating without fumigation, which might be harmful for human & animal consumption with inappropriate procedure.
How do we apply Sampling & Moisture Analysis?
Grain transport can be in the form of bulks on the truck or ship, jumbo bags, 50 kgs bags and others. For example if it is placed on a truck, we may share with you a truck sampling technology that can enable you to take a little grain sample and transfer, then we clean, dividing the sample based on its variety, and NIR analyzing. We will be able to know not only information about moisture, but also protein, sedi, gluten, oil and starch content.
